Sports
Throughout many years the students of Gymnasium Steglitz have succeeded in winning athletic competitions, especially in (disciplines such as) rowing and track-and-field, (in which the school has regurlarly participated in). In addition, the students have proved their skills in other sports, which for example allowed the handball-team to win second place in the national Berlin School Championship, and the Judoka who reached a remarkable third place in the preliminariy round of „jugend trainiert“ in 2007.
Gymnasium Steglitz’s rowing squad deserves special attention not only because it by number belongs to one of Berlin’s largest rowing teams, but also because Gymnasium Steglitz owns the biggest schools’ rowing boat collection. Regular attendance at the school regattas during spring and autumn, and a four-day hiking trip in the summer belong to the highlights of each rowing season.
The upper grades offer many different ahtletic disciplins such as badminton, hockey, judo, rowing and dance. Furthermore, Gymnasium Steglitz is Berlin’s first school to offer rock climbing as a sport activity.
