Thank you for your visit / 180 children took part in the orientation courses
Experience- Report of Sophie H. (9): „My first lesson in Latin!“
Sophie H. (9) is excited! She is waiting in front of the class room for her first lesson in Latin. „Actually my mum signed me up, but I am interested in Latin as well.“ Sophie goes to an Elemantary School in Berlin at the moment. Her mother wants a better eduaction for her daughter and thinks that an ancient-languages-school would be the best choice. „ I have never seen white boards before, and the teacher was so polite! And I can speak a few words in Latein already!“ Sophie is thrilled and is sad that her first lesson in Latin is already over. It’s clear: she wants to attend Gymnasium Steglitz.
Open doors and crowded hallways
At 3pm the Open Day 2011 started with the orientation course in Latin. Already half an hour before the lesson started a lot of visitors were waiting in front of the class. Getting through the halls was barely possible.
From 4pm on all projects started with their presentations. Faculty members introduced themselves, delicious food was sold inside the building, there was face painting, movie presentations and lots more. People came to inform themselves and talk to the teachers. During the conversations the teachers recognized the strong wish for a good and ambitious education. We thank all the supporters and teachers, who helped making the open day a great one!
